Those players included quarterback Drake Maye who entered his name in the NFL Draft. Running Backs Elijah Green, George Pettaway who entered their names in transfer portal. Wide Receivers Tychaun Chapman , Andre Greene Jr. Wide Receiver Tez Walker who entered his in the 2024 NFL Draft. Tight End John Copenhaver who was injured, Tight End Kamari Morales who entered his name in transfer portal. Tight End Bryson Nesbit who was injured. Offensive Lineman Corey Gaynor who entered his name in the NFL Draft. Offensive Lineman Justin Kanyuk who entered his name in transfer portal. Offensive Lineman Zach Rice who was injured. Defensive Lineman Kendrick Bingley-Jones who entered his name in the transfer portal. Linebacker Cedric Gray who entered his name in 2024 NFL Draft. Defensive Back Tayon Holoway who entered his name in transfer portal. Defensive Backs Will Hardy, Alijah Huzzie who was injured. Ryan Coe who entered his name in transfer portal.

As North Carolina’s 2023 season concluded with 30-10 loss to West Virginia in Duke’s Mayo Bowl in the 1st quarter West Virginia took a 7-0 lead as Traylon Ray caught 75 yard pass from Garrett Greene, Michael Hays kicked, made extra point. In 2nd quarter North Carolina got on scoreboard with Noah Burnette kicking, making 28 yard field goal before West Virginia responded with touchdown as Beanie Bishop Jr returned a punt 78 yards for touchdown putting West Virginia up 14-3 before North Carolina responded with touchdown of their own as J.J Jones caught 16 yard pass from Connor Harrell , Noah Burnette kicked, made extra point getting North Carolina within 14-10 before West Virginia expanded their lead 17-10 on a Michael Hays 30 yard field goal . In the 3rd quarter Michael kicked, made 34 yard field goal to extend West Virginia’s lead over North Carolina 20-10. In the 4th quarter it was all West Virginia as they scored a touchdown, made extra point, kicked field goal . The touchdown was a Jaheim White run for 11 yard touchdown the field goal was a 29 yard field goal putting final touches on 30-10 loss for North Carolina.

You’re 9-1 last year and you didn’t finish well,”“Part of it’s the schedule, but you still have to beat some good teams to win. We were 6-0 this year and didn’t finish well. We’ve got to figure out why we’re not finishing well. We’re so close. We don’t want to hang around eight or nine (wins). ... I’ve got to figure out why we can’t get over the hump at the end.”
