What Does Dejounte Murray's Trade From San Antonio To Atlanta Mean For Former Duke Point Guard, Current San Antonio Point Guard Tre Jones?
Since leaving Duke after his Sophomore season Tre Jones has been the back up point guard to Dejounte Murray in San Antonio.
Recently, though,Dejounte Murray was traded to Atlanta for three first round draft picks as Atlanta is sending 2023 picks via Charlotte plus their own 2025-2027 first round pick in the deal.
What does Dejounte Murray’s trade from San Antonio to Atlanta mean for former Duke point guard, current San Antonio point guard Tre Jones?
Does that mean Tre Jones is going to be the starting point guard for Gregg Popovich, San Antonio in 2022-2023 season?
Right now I don’t know the answer to that question! Though, if Gregg Popovich gives Tre Jones the opportunity he’s got a point guard in Tre Jones that played two years under the direction of Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski at Duke who retired following the 2021-2022 season and a point guard who’s older brother Tyus Jones who also played for Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski at Duke who helped Duke cut down the nets at the 2015 final four in Indianapolis and is currently a point guard for the Memphis Grizzlies in NBA.
Though Tre Jones is going to compete for the starting point guard position along with with two other players!
Who?
Josh Primo, Blake Wesley who a season ago averaged 5.8 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.6 assists per game as a freshman at Notre Dame then was drafted in the 2022 NBA Draft out of Notre Dame who like Duke is a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference as he drafted, selected 25th by San Antonio.
