Mike Elko Was Awarded Atlantic Coast Conference Coach Of The Year Following Coaching Inaugural Regular Season As Head Coach Of Duke In 2022

Mike Elko was awarded Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of The Year following coaching inaugural regular season as Head Coach of Duke in 2022

Why?

I don’t know the exact reasons why though, I have a pretty good idea as to why Mike Elko was awarded Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the year for 2022.

Mike Elko took over a team who finished of 3-9 0-8 in the Coastal Division previous season under then Head Coach David Cutcliffe who eventually parted ways with Director Of Athletics Nina King.

Mike Elko was introduced in his introductory press conference on December 13, 2021 by Director Of Athletics Nina King.

Following being introduced by Director of Athletics Nina King Mike Elko stated "I believe that now is the time for Duke football,"The Duke brand is nationally recognized as a brand of excellence. The combined accomplishments of this university in academics and athletics are truly unparalleled. We have a world-renowned faculty and an amazing group of coaches that have achieved nothing short of greatness in their fields. The amount of ACC Championships and National Championships that this university has brought to Durham is amazing. Now it's time for football to get on that level. It's time for football to hold its end of the bargain and elevate itself to being a national brand and a nationally recognized program."

In Mike Elko’s inaugural season as Duke Head Coach in 2022 Mike Elko has backed up those words he said in his introductory press conference on December 13, 2021. How? By leading Duke to an 8-4 overall record 5-3 in the Coastal Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference finishing second in the final season of the Coastal Division Of The Atlantic Coast Conference behind tobacco road rival North Carolina who finished first in the Coastal Division Of The Atlantic Coast Conference with a record 9-3 overall, 6-2 in the final season of Coastal Division of Atlantic Coast Conference and is going to be playing in the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship Saturday (Tomorrow) in Charlotte at Bank Of America Stadium home of NFL’s Carolina Panthers. Opposing who? Clemson who finished 1st in the finial season of the Atlantic Division of Atlantic Coast Conference with record of 10-2 overall 8-0 in the final season of Atlantic Division of Atlantic Coast Conference as the Atlantic Coast Conference became the latest conference to get rid of divisions in favor of a new scheduling format Starting in 2023, the league announced it will move to a 3-5-5 format, in which each team has three permanent rivalry games played annually, with the other 10 opponents rotating on an every-other-year basis.

The plans for a shift back to a single-division format gained steam during the league's spring meetings in May, with the ACC hoping to improve its TV inventory of marquee games and set up a league championship game that would include its two best teams annually. Interestingly, the new format would not have altered the teams playing in the ACC title game in seven of the past eight years.

The next time Duke fans, spectators are going to see Mike Elko coaching is going to be during Duke’s Bowl game!

Though,

At this time we don’t what bowl game Duke is playing in or who the opponent is.
