Thank You Eli Manning
When Eli Manning’s older brother Peyton Manning retired from the NFL after winning Super Bowl 50 with Denver I didn’t have my blog then so here is my inaugural thank you letter to the last Manning to play in the NFL.
Eli Manning was drafted in 2004 by the San Diego Chargers now the Los Angeles Chargers as the first pick in the NFL draft out of Ole Miss but the quarterback wouldn’t stay a Charger for long as they traded his rights to the New York Giants while San Diego selected Phillip Rivers out of NC State as the fourth pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. “according to https://www.draftsite.com/nfl/draft-history/2004/
Eli Manning spent his entire career with the New York Giants.
In his time with the New York Giants he never missed a start because of an injury making 232 consecutive starts but 236 total starts.
In his career he had 4,895 completions with a 60.3 completion percentage , 34.4 attempts , 57,023 Yards, 366 yards per game , 4.5 touchdowns, 244 interceptions. “according to http://www.nfl.com/player/elimanning/2505996/careerstats
While he also won two super bowls with both victories coming over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. The first one was on February 3rd 2008 and the second one February 5 2012.
In his final season in 2019 Eli Manning only played in four games. Why? Because in the NFL Draft the New York Giants selected quarterback Daniel Jones out of Duke as the sixth pick who like Eli Manning was coached by David Cutcliffe in college.
In the four games that Eli Manning was the starter when rookie Daniel Jones was out because of an injury he had 147 attempts, 91 completions, 1, 042 yards , 6 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. “according to http://www.nfl.com/player/elimanning/2505996/careerstats
