“Well, I think his confidence is building. His assurance out there on the floor, both ends, is growing. We had talked about defensively over the last three or four games, his ability to block and alter shots and rebound the basketball and being able to do it consistently. And then from an offensive standpoint, him being able to finish around the basket, hit a couple mid range shots. I wanted him to hit that 3 at the top of the key, but he stepped up and made some free throws, and it’s his first career double-double. What a time for that to happen here on the road. And another reason that I’m happy is all of them are, but I’m just in particular speaking about J-Wash, like he’s waited his turn and he has such a burning desire to please his teammates, please his coaches. He really wants to do well, and to see him being celebrated in the locker room amongst his teammates, that’s something that I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”Well, I would prefer not to be in those situations. I’m just being honest with you, but it is nice to see different people step up on both ends of the floor, in late game situations, and that’s been a real key for us. Whether it’s J-Wash today who made the game winning basket and the game winning stop, and you talked about Elliot and Ian in the second half was spectacular. Offensively, we just got to do a better job. From a defensive standpoint, they shot 60 percent from the field in the second half, giving them 16 offensive rebounds. That’s just not sustainable, and we can’t live on that. And so the growth for us is to put two halves together defensively and rebounding. Then I feel like we’re in a really good spot.”

I’m going to poke him in the eye Monday . It’s on the practice plan, it’s the first thing we’re going to do. I wasn’t happy with them coming back because that’s something we’ve struggled with all season, is getting a lead , whether that’s the first or second half letting the team comeback. Whether it’s turnovers , offensive rebounds , tonight it was a combination of both plus putting them on free throw line. But I was really happy with the response being on the road , them cutting it to two -one possession game being able to execute and get stops was big time for our group.
Though, North Carolina Head Coach Hubert Davis wasn’t the only one to share his thoughts as North Carolina senior guard RJ Davis who was was 4-11 on field goals , 3-9 on 3 pointers to go along with 5 rebounds , 6 assists , 16 points had this to say!
Just knowing what’s at stake we did a good job keeping our composure today . We didn’t get to racial and we didn’t let the game momentum favor their side . They made a run and we came together as a team.
