I think the response for us was huge . It was great for us to kind of feel it . We haven’t been in a ton of those positions throughout this year so I thought it was a big opportunity for us to kind of show that we can stay composed and even when they make a run , stay level headed.

Following Duke coming back from 2nd half deficits to win at Wake Forest 63-56 Duke graduate transfer Mason Gillis from Purdue who was 4-7 on field goals , 3-6 on 3 pointers to go along with 6 rebounds , 11 points had this to say!

At first I don’t think we showed our poise but we got there and that’s all that matters. You know throughout the course of a game you just got to stick to details play to our standard and through the course of a game averages play out. And so , you know , if we keep doing what we’re doing what we’re supposed to do , help each other out , doing our jobs, good things happen. I think everything we’re doing right now we’re getting ready for March and that was a March style game right there just being able to make adjustments see how the game is playing out . What we needed to do to get the W and that’s all that matters.

Following Duke coming back from 2nd half deficits to win at Wake Forest 63-56 Duke Head Coach Jon Scheyer had this to say! I think when you’re up big, somewhat big and then the team takes the lead you have to claw your way back . So I think that speaks to just the toughness of the team the character . I have such trust in these guys with their toughness down the stretch.

Following Wake Forest 63-56 loss to 2nd ranked Duke Head Coach Steve Forbes had this to say!

Really proud of the way that we played in the second half. We didn't play well in the first half. Credit to them because they had us down by 13 at the half. We didn't finish really well, but I felt okay because I knew we just had some things to fix offensively that weren't that hard to fix. We fixed those things and came out in the second half and played really well. We had five kills in the second half. We went on a 17-4 run to start the second half and had the building pretty loud. Credit to Jon [Scheyer] and his team for staying composed. We had a couple of times where we could have taken our lead up to eight or more and we couldn't do it. They jumped into a zone like they did last year and we just didn't execute very well against it. They got stops and they converted on those stops. They were having a hard time getting stops in man, so credit to them. They continued to get stops and score. Mason [Gillis] was a big factor in the game. He plays really hard, he's a good rebounder, and he made a couple big threes that were huge. I was very impressed with him. Obviously they have [Cooper] Flagg and [Kon] Knueppel. They have a really good team and Jon has done a really good job with them. Everybody gets caught up in talent, but you still have to coach the talent, and he's doing a really good job at coaching that talented team. They come at you in so many different ways, but we were good defensively throughout the game. We're talking about a team that shoots 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from three, which is just off the charts, and we guarded them well. It caused them a lot of trouble. We just didn't execute offensively when we needed to in that stretch where we had that six-point lead, and that cost us."

We have an amazing set up. Our medical team did a great job. Our eye doctor who handles everything for the team, was here and saw him right away. Fortunately it wasn’t anything with his eye itself it was his eyelid he got bruised basically. I was really relieved when the medical team shared the news because I was really nervous about him.

Wake Forest comes into the second game with 2nd ranked Duke with record of 20-9 overall 12-6 in the Atlantic Coast Conference is fifth in the standings because like Duke Wake Forest won their previous Atlantic Coast Conference game Saturday as it knocked Notre Dame 74-71 in Winston-Salem where as a team Wake Forest shot 44.1 % , 23.1 % on 3 pointers , 100 % on free throws. Two players scored in double figures. Cameron Hildreth was 10-14 on field goals , 1-2 on on 3 pointers , 7-7 on free throws to go along 6 rebounds, 1 assists , 3 steals , 28 points . Hunter Sallis was 5-17 on field goals , 0-3 on 3 pointers , 7-7 on free throws to go along with four rebounds , 2 assists , 1 steal, 2 blocks, 17 points.

Following Wake Forest knocking-off Notre Dame Saturday in Winston- Salem Wake Forest Head Coach Steve Forbes had this to say!

Today's game was a culmination of what was a wonderful weekend here on campus. Yesterday was a very emotional day for our Hall of Fame ceremony. I spent a lot of time with Skip Prosser's wife, Nancy, and have a picture of Skip in my office. That was very meaningful to me, and I'm sure to her. To go to the ceremony last night was one of the best things I've ever been a part of. Listening to everybody speak about their experience at Wake Forest and what it meant to them made me very proud. We had Lynne Heflin, who ran the basketball program here for [35] years, Ish Smith and obviously Coach Prosser.

Today is indicative of our fanbase – how wonderful and supportive they are. What a great environment to play in today. Our players and staff surely noticed it. I'm very proud to be the coach.

We don't make a lot of threes, so we have to get points in different ways off of turnovers and free throws. In the first half, we only got two free throws but then went 17-for-17 in the second half by being aggressive at the rim. We did a better job of spacing to get Cameron (Hildreth) and Hunter (Sallis) opportunities in there. We were only 7-for-15 at the rim in the first half but then 11-for-18 in the second. Ty-Laur Johnson set the tone defensively early for what was going to be a defensive battle. He was very aggressive and we turned Markus Burton over six times. Then, about seven minutes left in the game, Cameron decided he wanted to guard (Burton). He did an unbelievable job and willed us to win on both ends of the floor. He's just an incredible competitor and a really good player. I'm really happy for our team. It's our 20th overall win and 12th in the league, and we still have two more great opportunities."
