Following Pittsburgh’s 73-57 loss to Virginia Monday night in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Pittsburgh Head Coach Jeff Capel had this to say!
They were terrific. Right from the start, they were ready to go. They played with great energy, great physicality, and they
manhandled us at every position, and so congrats to them. I’m really disappointed in our performance. This is probably as bad
of a performance of any team I've ever coached. It was embarrassing. I'm sorry to the crowd, students, fans. It's my responsibility. I have to do a better job of making sure we're ready to goI’m not going to answer for them. I'm not a mind reader. When we got here yesterday for our practice, we did feedback from
Wake Forest and talked about how we didn't close the game out there. Then we immediately went into Virginia about the
things that we needed to do with our film session and our own court work. We talked to the team about how Virginia was in a similar situation and they lost a really close game at home to their big rival. This game was going to be about who can
respond. We lost a tough game against Wake Forest and this was who can respond, who can fight through it, with a short turnaround.”
Following Pittsburgh’s 73-57 loss to Virginia Monday night in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Pittsburgh Jorge Diaz Graham who was 3-7 on field goals , 3-6 on 3 pointers to go along with 4 rebounds , 1 steal , 1 block, 9 points had this to say about the teams offense on his strong play tonight on how to encourage teammates on how to move forward with loss on poor start to the game!
I don't think offense was a problem. I don't think we defended right. Offensively, we were trying to get Virginia out of their rhythm and then just play their switch. We didn't know they would not shoot switch. We adopted, I think, fine, but it was just defensively.Believe in us. Just keep shooting and we need to get better shots, but I believe in every one of my teammates, and even ifthey're making shots, keep shooting. Just believe in ourselves. Keep fighting. We just need to learn from it and just keep fighting. Nobody's gonna stop. We can't feel sorry for ourselves, keep fighting as a group and overcome this stuff.I think we got hit in the first half, and we never recovered from that. I think our body language wasn't right since the
beginning, and I think we gave up. We need to learn from this, and this has to be that game that changes the season, and I
believe there's still time. I believe we are good team. We just need to keep fighting together and just be the team we are
