Amile Jefferson Former Duke Player Director Of Player Development Duke Assistant Coach Has A New Title Because He Was Named Assistant Coach To Joe Mazzulla, Boston Of NBA Today
As a player for Duke for former Duke Head Coach now retired Duke Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski Amile Jefferson was anchor on the defensive end for Duke during his playing career and carried that mentorship to the coaching ranks with the development of Mark Williams in 2022 and Dereck Lively II in 2023. Williams was the ACC Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore after leading the conference and ranking 12th nationally with 110 blocked shots. Lively earned spots on the ACC All-Defensive Team, the ACC All-Freshman Team and the ACC All-Tournament Team after his 82 blocks ranked second in the ACC, eighth nationally and led all Division freshmen.
For previous two seasons Amile Jefferson has been on the Duke Coaching Staff as Director Of Player Development when Duke Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski was coaching his final season as Duke Head Coach in 2021-2022 before current Duke Head Coach Jon Scheyer promoted him to Assistant Coach. Now though Jon Scheyer is going to have to hire a new Assistant Coach or Assistant Coaches as the NCAA changed its rules to allow schools to add two additional coaches to their coaching staff effective July 1, 2023 because Amile Jefferson former Duke Player Director Of Player Development Duke Assistant Coach has a new title because he was named Assistant Coach to Joe Mazzulla, Boston in the NBA today Amile Jefferson played professionally for Boston in 2020.
The deal is multi year.
