NC State Was Swept By Florida State In The Regular Season

NC State was swept by Florida State in the regular season because they lost lost the first game 81-83 in North Carolina’s state capital on January 1, 2022!

Why?

led for over 25 minutes in the game, but after taking a 75-74 lead on a Dereon Seabron lay-up with 1:50 to play, Florida State rattled off a 9-3 run to win.
Terquavion Smith added 23 points, hitting 8-of-15 shots, including 7-of-13 from three-point range. The seven three-pointers are the most by an NC State player since Allerik Freeman made seven in the Pack's win at North Carolina on Jan. 27, 2018.

Seabron and Smith combined for 30 of NC State's 40 points in the second half.

Florida State led by two at the break, 43-41, but NC State scored the first six points of the second half to force a Seminoles timeout.

FSU battled back to tie the game at 51, but a 7-0 Pack run, capped by a Breon Pass three-pointer, gave NC State a 58-51 lead with 11:23 to go. Pass' basket were the last points scored for NC State by a player that wasn't Seabron or Smith.

The Seminoles quickly came back, going on a 10-2 run and taking the lead on a Matthew Cleveland jumper with 8:07 to go.

Florida State would extend the lead to five, and the run to 16-4, on a Cleveland lay-up with 5:37 to go.

After an NC State timeout, Seabron scored the next five points in the game to tie the score at 67 with 5:03 to play.

The team's would exchange the lead five times over the next five minutes as neither team had a lead larger than one possession until Florida State hit two free throws with four seconds to play.

Osborne led four Florida State players in double figures with 19 points.

Then they lost the second game against Florida State on March 5, 2022 in Tallahassee 76-89!

Why?

The Seminoles shot 55.2 percent in the first half to take a 46-35 advantage into the break.

The Pack closed within 51-42 with 16:58 to go, but Florida State went on a 9-3 run to take a 61-45 lead with 13:10 remaining.

The Seminoles stretched the lead to as many as 17, but the Pack had one last run in it, going on a 10-2 streak to get within 75-66 with 5:38 to play on a Hellems three-pointer. Florida State answered with a basket on its next possession and NC State never got closer than nine points the rest of the way.

Florida State shot 51.6 percent fro the game and outscored NC State, 42-22, in points in the paint and had a 53-4 advantage in bench points.

Caleb Mills led five Seminoles in double figures with 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting.

NC State who is a 15th seed in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament is now going to prepare to oppose Clemson who is a 10th seed in the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament in Brooklyn New York at the Barclays Center that is home to the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, the WNBA’s New York Liberty!

PJ Hall (Spartanburg, S.C./Dorman) finished with a career-best 10 made field goals in his fourth 20-point effort of the season to lead Clemson University men’s basketball to victory on the road at NC State on Saturday. It was also Hall’s 14th consecutive double-digit scoring game this season.

 got 20 points, five rebounds and a career-high four blocks from Hall, while Al-Amir Dawes (Newark, N.J./The Patrick School) scored 16 points and added in five rebounds, three steals and two assists.

The last Tiger to swat four shots in a game was Aamir Simms who finished with four at Miami in a 66-65 win on Jan. 2, 2021.

Hunter Tyson (Monroe, N.C./Piedmont) finished with six points, seven rebounds and two assists.

David Collins (Youngstown, Ohio/First Love Christian Academy) garnered his fourth double-digit rebounding game with 11 boards. Collins added five points, two assists and three steals. Nick Honor (Orlando, Fla./Lake Highland) knocked down four-straight free throws in the final eight seconds to help seal the victory. He finished with eight points and two assists.

The Wolfpack (8-8, 1-4 ACC) got off to a lightning-fast start with three-straight triples for a 9-0 advantage, but the Tigers quickly responded behind an 18-4 run that gave them an eight-point lead. The Tigers took a 30-28 lead into halftime.

Both teams would trade leads for most of the first half of the second stanza but with score knotted at 49-49, Clemson opened up a four-point lead behind back-to-back Hall dunks. A 7-0 run opened up a nine-point lead at 62-53 and the Tigers were able to execute down the stretch to seal the win.

The Tigers led points in the paint by a resounding 24 points (44-20). Clemson got lots of clutch play from its bench throughout the game, including seven points on 3-for-3 shooting from Chase Hunter (Atlanta, Ga./Westlake) including lockdown defense. Naz Bohannon (Lorain, Ohio/Lorain) added five points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal to further prove his worthy status as a Sixth Man of the Year candidate.

Tip off is set for 4:30pm!
