North Carolina comes into the game with a record of 9-3 1-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference and is fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference behind their tobacco road rival Duke who had their games postponed at Clemson, Wednesday at Notre Dame Saturday because they currently have coronavirus issues going on within their program. North Carolina last played on Tuesday December 21, 2021 where they closed out their non conference schedule with a 70-50 win over Appalachian State in Chapel Hill who is a member of the Sun Belt Conference. In North Carolina’s 70-50 win over Appalachian State Armando Bacot posted another double-double and North Carolina pulled away from Appalachian State, 70-50, on Tuesday night in the Smith Center.

Bacot had 16 points and 10 rebounds for his eighth double-double In 12 games this season and his 26th career in just 19 minutes.

RJ Davis added 15 points on 7 of 10 shooting, while Brady Manek pitched in 11 points and 11 rebounds on 5 of 9 shooting.

Caleb Love finished with 11 points on 4 of 8 shooting with five assists and six turnovers. Kerwin Walton hit 2 of 3 three-pointers and chipped in six points in 10 minutes from long range.

North Carolina rebounded from last Saturday's loss to Kentucky in Las Vegas and improved to 9-3 this season.  Appalachian fell to 6-7.

North Carolina shot 55.2 percent from the floor in the second half (16 for 29) while holding the Mountaineers to 26.5 percent (9 for 34). North Carolina’s defense limited Appalachian to 1 for 15 shooting from three-point range in the second half.

North Carolina posted a 47-33 rebounding edge that helped lead to a 38-28 advantage in points in the paint. Carolina comitted 15 turnovers.

Jamel Horton's 3-pointer with 36 seconds left gave Albany the cushion it needed to earn its first road victory of the season, upsetting Boston College 61-57 on Monday night.

The Great Danes built a 35-26 lead by intermission but Boston College battled back to take the lead 39-37 on a jumper and layup by DeMarr Langford Jr. Albany took the lead for good on a 3-pointer by Matt Cerruti with 10:13 left and pushed the lead to double digits on Jarvis Doles' layup with 5:38 left that made it 54-44.

Jaeden Zackery hit two free throws to get the Eagles within two, 54-52 with 3:54 left, but Justin Neely and De'Vondre Perry hit jumpers back-to-back, and after Quinton Post got Boston College back within two with his layup wtih 1:15 left, Horton hit from deep.

Perry finished with 16 points to lead Albany (3-7), which won on the road for the first time in six games. Cerruti hit 4 of 7 from 3-point range and finished with 14 points.

Zackery finished with 15 points to lead Boston College (6-5), which lost at home for the first time in seven starts. Quinten Post finished with 13 points and grabbed seven boards. Makai Ashton-Langford added 11 points and DeMarr Langford Jr. added 10.
