Matthew Hurt, Wendell Moore Jr. Are Different Because They Aren't One And Done
Duke Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski is known for recruiting players who come to college for one season before they take their talents to the NBA.
Those players have included Kyrie Iriving who is a member of the Boston Celtics who spent one season in Durham in 2011 although his one season was cut short because he was sidelined with a toe injury . Austin Rivers who was at Duke during the 2012 who will be remembered for hitting a three pointer at the buzzer in Chapel Hill to beat North Carolina who is a member of the Houston Rockets. Other players who only spent one season in Durham included Jabari Parker of the Milwaukee Bucks in 2014.
The 2015 recruiting class that also only spent one season in Durham included Tyus Jones who is a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves and also Tre Jones older brother , Justise Winslow of the Miami Heat and Jahil Okofor who is a member of the New Orleans Pelicans but during their time together at Duke they not only won thirty five games but they cut the nets down in Indianapolis with a 68-63 win over Wisconsin in the national title game .
As for 2016, Brandon Ingram only one season in Durham before heading to the NBA where he is a member of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Before the 2019-20 season Tre Jones who is the younger brother of Tyus Jones who is currently a member of the Memphis Grizzles of the NBA made an announcement. What announcement was that? The announcement was that the point guard was returning to Duke for his sophomore season. During his sophomore season that was cut short because of the Corona Virus Pandemic that we’re dealing with in the United States and around the world Tre Jones who has since decided to take his talents to the next level and declare for the NBA Draft averaged 16.2 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game along with 6.4 assists per game in his final season in Durham. “according to https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/4395626/tre-jones
Turns out Tre Jones former teammates Matthew Hurt who like Tre Jones is from Minnesota. Specifically Rochester Minnesota and Wendell Moore Jr. who is from Charlotte North Carolina are following in their former teammate Tre Jones footsteps. How? They’re not one and done. Earlier this Matthew Hurt and Wendell Moore announced they will both be back in Durham for their sophomore seasons. “according to an article by Glen Morganstern in The Chronicle
During their freshman seasons Matthew Hurt averaged 9.7 points per game , 3.8 rebounds per game and 0.9 assists per game game. “according to https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/4431673/matthew-hurt while Wendell Moore Jr. averaged 7.4 points , 4.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists. “according to https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/4592187/wendell-moore-jr and helped Duke knock-off North Carolina in Chapel in overtime 98-96 by scoring the winning bucket. However, Wendell Moore Jr. did miss sometime on the court during his freshman season. Why? Because he suffered a brown right hand on January 4th in Coral Gables Florida in a 95-62 win over Miami. How? He was trying to force a turnover. “according to an article by Myron Medcalf
Lets hope Wendell Moore Jr. doesn’t miss time next season but in the game on the hardwood or any sport injuries are apart of the game.
