Preseason Top 25 2016-2017 Men's College Basketball
It's the off-season for college basketball and those of us who are fans around the country are anxiously awaiting November to arrive! In the meantime lets check out the preseason top 25! According to Kerry Miller" who is a College Basketball National Analyst for Bleacher Report" This is what the preseason Top 25 looks like right now. Where are the Atlantic Coast Conference teams in the top 25? Duke who had a very thin bench last season is reloaded with the number one recruiting class and they hold the number one spot.
Louisville who did not compete in post season play last season due to their post season self imposed ban comes in at number 19.
How about the Virginia Cavaliers ? They come in at number eight and anyone who plays Virginia knows that they play great defense and they like to get other teams deep in to the shot clock. Sound familiar ? Last season when Virginia came to Cameron on February 13th 2016, Grayson Allen hit a buzzer beater to win the game for Duke. I was shaking in my seat at Cameron while watching the final seconds of that game. The final score was 63-62 and the drought of Virginia winning in Cameron continued although their was some controversy that Grayson Allen had traveled. Virginia has not won in Cameron Indoor Stadium since 1995! Wow that's quite a long time!
Last but not least Duke's tobacco road rival eight miles down the road Carolina. Last year the Tar Heels had a sensational year making it to the national championship game in Houston Texas before falling to Villanova on a buzzer beater by Kris Jenkins. They are number five in the recently released preseason top 25 poll.
