New York, Tampa Bay Split The Four Game Series Because Gerrit Cole, New York's Offense Struggled, Ryan Yarbrough Threw A Complete Game In The Finale

New York, Tampa Bay split the four game series!

Where?

Bronx New York!

Why?

Because on Monday May 31, 2021 New York lost the opening game to Tampa Bay by a score of 3-1.

Why?

Because Miguel Andujar provided the only offense for New York!

Where?

Bronx New York!

How?

Miguel Andujar homered!

When?

In the seventh inning!

For the game New York was limited to just three off Tampa Bay starting pitcher Rich Hill and because of that their offensive woes continued and their losing streak was extended to four games in a 3-1 loss.

Then they won game two by a score of 5-3!

When?

On Tuesday!

Where?

Bronx New York!

Why?

The night belonged to Clint Frazier!

here?

Bronx New York!

Why?

Because Clint Frazier who is a left fielder for New York provided defense as well as offense for his team and helped them snap their four game losing streak against Tampa Bay.

How?

Clint Frazier preserved a 3-3 tie by contributing a diving inning-ending catch in right field, stealing a hit from Joey Wendle that would have brought home two runs. With Chad Green on the mound, Wendle lofted a weak fly ball that seemed as though it would elude second baseman Rougned Odor. Frazier charged and snared it at the last possible moment.

Then in the eleventh inning Clint Frazier pummeled an Andrew Kittredge slider for his fifth home run of the season, securing the Yankees’ fifth walk-off win of the year in a 5-3 win.

Then New York won by a score of 4-3!

When?

On Wednesday night!

Where?

Bronx New York!

Why?

Pitchers led the way in New York’s 4-3 win!

How?

Jordan Montgomery struck out six over 61/3 innings.

Jonathan Loaisiga struck out Randy Arozarena on three pitches and coaxed a groundout from the hot-hitting Austin Meadows to preserve New York’s one-run lead.

Chad Green worked a scoreless eighth with one walk and one strikeout.

Then Arodis Chapman came in to close out his 12th save.

Then in the finale New York lost by a score of 9-2!

Why?

Gerrit Cole struggled to effectively elevate his fastball, firing too many misplaced “noncompetitive” pitches, by his own assessment.

And gave up a a pair of two-out RBI singles in the fifth inning that broke the game open. New York trailed, 2-1, at the time, before Brandon Lowe hooked a changeup to right to score one and Yandy Díaz lined an elevated slider up the middle to plate two more.

Offensively the only support Gerrit Cole got was from Brett Gardner, Miguel Andujar as they both homered.

Meanwhile Tampa Bay won game one!

When?

Monday by a score of 3-1!

Where?

Bronx New York!

Why?

Rich Hill scattered three hits and a pair of walks over five scoreless innings.

Offensively Tampa Bay put their leadoff man aboard in every inning from the third through the sixth, and three of them came around to score. That included Austin Meadows, whose 334-foot fly ball crept over the short porch in right field for a solo shot, and the eventual winning run.

And then Tampa Bay won the finale by a score of 9-2 in the finale.

When?

Yesterday!

Where?

Bronx New York!

Why?

Ryan Yarbough threw a complete game while giving up just two hits on six hits.

Tonight New York is supposed to open up a three game series with Boston who like them is a member of the American League East.

Two right handed pitchers are supposed to start the opening game of the three game series for New York, Boston!

Why?

Because Michael King is supposed to start for New York while Nathan Eovaldi is supposed to start for Boston.

Where?

Bronx New York but could mother nature get in the way!

That is a possibility!

Why?

Because there is a chance of a thunderstorm early and a 43% chance of precipitation at first pitch.

“according to accuweather.com

Michael King comes into the game with a record of 0-2 with an earn run average of 2.86.

Why?

Because in his most recent outing, King took the loss against Detroit, allowing four runs (two earned) in 2 1/3 innings.

Nathan Eovaldi comes into the game with a record of 6-2 with an earn run average of 4.01.

Why?

Because he beat Miami his previous start.
