Gerrit Cole, Jordan Lyles Are Starting Tonight For New York, Texas Who Are Looking To Bounce Back As They Open A Four Game Series In Arlington Texas

Gerrit Cole, Jordan Lyles are starting tonight for New York, Texas who are looking to bounce back as they open a four game series in Arlington Texas.

Gerrit Cole comes into the game with a record of 5-1 with an earn run average of 1.37.

Why?

Gerrit Cole is coming off his best start of the season in which he struck out 12 batters while tossing eight scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and no walks against the Rays. He’ll go for his sixth win of the year vs. the Rangers, against whom he has a 5-2 career record.

Jordan Lyles comes into the game with a record of 1-3 with an earn run average of 6.63.

Why?

After a rough stretch in which he allowed at least three runs in six straight starts, Lyles settled in nicely in his last outing against San Francisco. He tossed five innings, allowing just two runs in a loss. Lyles has struggled with his control in May, walking nine batters after allowing just six free passes in April.

But could mother nature be a problem when it comes to Gerrit Cole, Jordan Lyles starting the opening game of the four game series for New York, Texas tonight in Arlington Texas?

The answer is yes!

Why?

Because there is a 20% chance of precipitation at first pitch!

However,

Globe Life Field in Arlington is different from other ballparks!

How?

Because it has a retractable roof so mother nature shouldn’t a problem as far as delaying or postponing the opening game of the four game series between New York, Texas!

The 5.5 acre retractable roof is one of the most prominent features of Globe Life Field and will provide shade and cooler temperature 365 days a year, keeping the average temperature in the mid-70’s. It is the largest single-panel operable roof in the world and weighs 24 million pounds. The roof is comprised by a white rubber membrane on the north and south sloped planes, and the flat center is covered with 223 clear panels made of ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene), a transparent plastic polymer related material, allowing for natural light to fill the entire facility. The roof structure consists of five steel trusses and tie-in steel between each truss, and its construction required 19,000 tons of steel. The roof can open in approximately 12 minutes.

New York who is a member of the American League East comes into the opening game of the three game series with a record of 22-18.

Why?

Because they lost the finale to Baltimore who like them is a member of the American League East.

How?

Jordan Montgomery experienced uncharacteristic struggles with his command and with putting hitters away. Montgomery threw 76 pitches over three innings, surrendering five runs on six hits.

Jordan Montgomery saw that lead evaporate in the home half of the third. Mountcastle, Maikel Franco and Freddy Galvis each drove in runs, part of a frame pushed along by two Montgomery wild pitches that Sánchez could not smother behind the dish.

And New York lost by a score of 10-6!

Jordan Montgomery had this to say about his start in the finale verses Baltimore.

I’m going to have to look at it tomorrow and re-evaluate, try and get better,”
