Is Corey Kluber Or Ross Stripling Going To Bounce Back Today When They Start The New York, Toronto Finale Today In Dunedin Florida?
Is Corey Kluber or Ross Stribling going to bounce back when they start the New York, Toronto finale today in Dunedin Florida?
Right now I don’t know the answer to that question!
What I do know is that both right handed pitchers are going to be looking to bounce back!
Why?
Because Corey Kluber has record of 0-1 with an earn run average of 5.68.
Why?
Corey Kluber lasted only 2 1/3 innings in his last start, smacked for five runs (three earned) by the Rays. He faced the Blue Jays on April 3 at Yankee Stadium, allowing two runs (one earned) over four innings.
And Ross Stribling has a record of 0-1 with an earn run average of 7.56.
Why?
Ross Stripling forged through five innings in his last start on Thursday en route to a no-decision, but he ran into a Mike-Trout-sized buzzsaw and still owns an ERA above 7.00. He is 0-3 lifetime against the Yankees (four appearances, one start).

New York comes into the finale with a record of 5-6 and is in second place in the American League East and is 2.5 games back of Boston who is leading the division.
Why?
Because New York lost their previous game to Toronto!
When?
Yesterday!
By a score of 7-3!
Where?
Dunedin Florida!
Why?
Jameson Taillon who started the game for New York struggled!
How?
Jameson Taillon gave up five runs in 3 2/3 innings.
And the New York offense was stymied by Toronto’s starting pitcher Hyun Jin Ryu.
How?
Hyun Jin Ryu held New York to four hits over 6 2/3 innings, walking one and striking out seven.
But showed signs of life late!
How?
New York rallied in the eighth inning.
Why?
Because Clint Frazier hit a line drive.
Off who?
Toronto reliever David Phelps who was hit in the back by Clint Frazier’s line drive.
Then,
LeMahieu roped a one-out double and Giancarlo Stanton snapped an 0-for-16 skid with a two-run single, measured at 120.0 mph -- Stanton’s ninth batted ball of 120 mph or more since Statcast’s 2015 inception.
Gary Sánchez worked a two-out walk that brought Aaron Hicks to the plate as the potential tying run, but Hicks never completed that at-bat.
Julian Merryweather bounced a 1-0 changeup that kicked away from catcher Danny Jansen, who recovered the ball and fired to first base, where Sánchez was caught in a rundown to end the inning.

Meanwhile,
Toronto was on the other end of the spectrum.
Why?
Because they evened up the series at one game a piece.
When?
Last night!
Where?
Dunedin Florida!
Why?
Hyun Jin Ryu one unearned run over 6 2/3 innings of four-hit ball, lowering his ERA to 1.89.
Josh Palacios put Toronto on the board with a two out single.
Rowdy Tellez homered!
Vladimir Guerrero and Bo Bichette both had multi-hit games.
But it wasn’t all good for Toronto as two of their relievers left the diamond with injuries.
David Phelps had to leave the game after getting hit by Clint Frazier’s 106.7 miles per hour line drive off his back n the eighth inning. Toronto is calling it a “contusion” for now, but the club should have more information today.
Then Julian Merryweather came in to clean up a tight situation in the eighth and threw just two pitches, but he didn’t come out for the save in the ninth after experiencing “left hip irritation.” Merryweather’s final pitch in the eighth was spiked in front of home plate, but Montoyo didn’t have information yet regarding when Merryweather felt the irritation or what the cause was.
