Domingo German, Lucas, Luetge, Gio Urshela agreed to 1 year contracts with New York, with the team that wears the pinstripes on Tuesday.

Why?

Because Domingo German made 18 starts, 4 relief appearances out of the bullpen for New York, for the team that wears the pinstripes after returning from suspension under Major League Baseball’s domestic violence policy.

In 2012 Lucas Luetge began his Major League Baseball career with Seattle!

In his inaugural season in Seattle Lucus Luetge had a record of 2-2 with an earn run average 3.98.

In 2013 in his second season in Seattle Lucas Luetge had a record of 1-3 with an earn run average of 4.86.

In 2014 in his third season in Seattle Lucas Luetge had a record of 0-0 with an earn run average of 5.00.

In 2015 with Seattle Lucas Luetge had a record of 0-0 with an earn run average 0.00..

But then he had to undergo Tommy John Surgery!

What is Tommy John Surgery?

UCL reconstruction is a surgery commonly used to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament inside the elbow by replacing it with a tendon from elsewhere in the body. The goal of the surgery is to stabilize the elbow, reduce or eliminate pain and restore stability and range of motion. This procedure was introduced and first performed by Frank Jobe, M.D., on baseball pitcher Tommy John in 1974—hence the colloquial name Tommy John surgery.

After that Lucas Luetge played Minor League Baseball before New York gave him an opportunity to come out of their bullpen this season because of a strong spring training performance!

Across 10 1/3 innings of Grapefruit League play, Luetge struck out 18 batters while giving up just two runs. He then spent the final days of camp anxiously waiting to hear if he had made the roster before Boone finally called him on Tuesday with the good news, allowing him to breathe a little easier.

Lucas Luetge had this to say about making the team out of Spring Training!

I’m trying to stay as calm as I can to try to act like it’s another day,” Luetge said of Opening Day. “I know it’s not. But I gotta be ready to go pitch tonight if my name’s called. But I’m gonna take it all in. When you’re out of the game or the big leagues for so long, you realize how quick it can go from you. While you’re up here, it seems like you’re going to be here forever. I kind of have that appreciation now, just to take it all in, look around the stadium, enjoy it, instead of just trying to look cool and act like you don’t care.”

Lucas Luetge was an asset to New York’s bullpen during the 2021 season!

And I feel like when the 2022 season arrives that Lucas Luetge can be an asset to New York’s bullpen yet again!

Though, just like Lucas Luetge in 2021 he’s going to make the team, the New York Yankees, the team that wears the pinstripes out of Spring Training!

The first Spring Training games for New York, for the team that wears the pinstripes are February 26, 2022 at George M. Steinbrenner Field in a split squad game verses Philadelphia, a split squad verses Baltimore at Ed Smith Stadium!

Though, could that not happen on that date?

That could be possibility!

Why?

Because Major League Baseball have submitted letters of intent to seek new labor terms as of December 1, 2021 as the collective bargaining agreement will expire and negations have proceeded slowly and both sides appear to be bracing for a lockout that could start on December 1 or when players are scheduled to report to spring training
