Jordan Montgomery, Michael Wacha Are Starting The Doubleheader In Bronx New York For The Yankees And The Mets On Jackie Robinson Day

Last week the series between the Yankees and the Mets what we call the Subway Series was postponed in Queens New York!

Why?

Because two people in the Mets organization tested positive for the Coronavirus!

On Friday the Yankees and the Mets will play a doubleheader at Yankee Stadium to begin their five game series where Jordan Montgomery will start the doubleheader for the Yankees verses Michael Wacha of the Mets and where both teams will honor Jackie Robinson on Jackie Robinson Day!

How?

By wearing the number 42 during the opening game of the doubleheader!

As stated above,

Jordan Montgomery and Michael Wacha will start the doubleheader for the Yankees and the Mets !

Jordan Montgomery who is a left handed pitcher for the Yankees comes into the game with a record of 2-1 with an earn run average of 2.66 Jordan Montgomery  is coming off a rain-shortened 3 2/3 inning effort against the Red Sox. Montgomery pitched well against the Mets in a Summer Camp exhibition, hurling five scoreless innings on July 19. He will oppose Michael Wacha of the Mets who unlike him is a right handed pitcher. Michael Wacha comes into the opening game of the doubleheader with a record of 1-2 with an earn run average of 6.43. Michael Wacha  will come off the injured list, where he’s resided since Aug. 8 due to right shoulder inflammation, to start Thursday’s game. As for the Yankees previous games, they played a doubleheader on Wednesday in Georgia verses Atlanta and got swept.

Why?

Gerrit Cole suffered his first loss in 462 days and his first loss as member of New York and the team the right handed pitcher rooting for out in Newport Beach California.

In the game one loss Gerrit Cole gave up homers!

In game two it wasn’t the starter who faltered for New York instead, it was Chad Green who out of the bullpen!

While Atlanta swept New York suffered back to back losses in the doubleheader!

In the second game Freddie Freeman not only gave Atlanta the lead but the win as well.

How?

Unlike the Yankees,

The Mets won their previous game!

On Wednesday!

How?

 Wilson Ramos plated Billy Hamilton with a go-ahead RBI single in the eighth, and Brad Brach, who recorded the final four outs. “according to an article by  Anthony DiComo  on mlb.com

First pitch for game one of the doubleheader is set for 4:05pm from Yankee Stadium with the second game to follow!

Game one of the doubleheader will be televised on Major League Baseball Network, SNY and Yes while the second game of the doubleheader will be televised on SNY and Yes!
