Michael Pineda Going For His Seventh Win Of The Season As New York Takes On Toronto

New York right-hander  Michael Pineda has been pitching great as of late and he will look to continue his greatness in the second game of a -four -game series against Toronto Friday.

In his last start against Oakland on Sunday  Michael Pineda worked around a rocky second inning, highlighted by Ryon Healey's s two-run single to left field, to complete six innings of three-run ball (two earned) to pick up his team-leading sixth win of the season. Pineda's solid outing continued a recent surge from New York's rotation: Yankees starters posted a 1.77 ERA over their six-game homestand. New York meanwhile is coming off a 12-2 win in the opener against Toronto on Thursday.

New York may be young but the young guns seem to be working out for New York and their manager Joe Girardi mixed in with some veterans.

Toronto might be getting healthier but the Yankees showed why they are currently the best team in the American League East with a convincing 12-2 victory on Thursday night at Rogers Centre. "according to http://m.yankees.mlb.com/news/article/233854832/yankees-thump-blue-jays-behind-sanchez-hicks/

New York scored early and often against the surging Blue Jays, who entered this game having won eight of their last nine. Gary Sanchez led the way with a pair of home runs, Aaron Hicks went 4-for-5 with six RBIs, and every member of the starting lineup reached base at least once. New York did most of their damage off right-hander Marco Estrada, who could not make it out of the fourth inning and allowed seven runs on nine hits and a pair of walks while striking out four. The seven earned runs were the most Estrada has allowed since joining the Blue Jays in 2015 and his highest total since June 20, 2014, at Colorado. New York manager Joe Girardi had this to say about Marcus Estrada He's the kind of guy that, if he settles in, he can be really tough," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "We never really let him settle in tonight."

New York who is leading the American League East  improved to 31-20 while Toronto took a step back and dropped  to 26-28 on the season.

Right -hander Michael Pineda who has a record of 6-2 with a 3.32 earn run average will be on the mound for New York. In his last start against Oakland, he got in the win column for the sixth time this year while tying his 2016 total and marking his ninth straight start of allowing three runs or less. This will be his first encounter with a potent Toronto lineup this year. He will go up against Toronto left-hander Franciso Liriano who has a record of 2-2 with a 6.35 earn run average. He will return from the disabled list to make this start. He has been out since May 10th with left -shoulder inflammation and is coming off a rehab appearance for Triple -A Buffalo while he allowed three runs over 4/1/3 innings. Will the New York offense that cruised to a win on Thursday by a score of 12-2 be able to score runs and back up Michael Pineda and give him a chance to win his seventh game of the year? Will the New York offense be able to get to Toronto's Fransico Liriano who will be making his first start since coming off the disabled list with left shoulder inflammation?

First pitch is set for 7:07 pm. The game will be televised on the Major League Baseball Network  "according to https://www.mlb.com/gameday/yankees-vs-blue-jays/2017/06/02/490921#game_state=preview,game_tab=,game=490921
