North Carolina Still Searching For Their First Win Of The Season As They Visit Old Dominion

North Carolina will visit Old Dominion Saturday for their first road game of the season as they're still looking to get in the win column in 2017.

Carolina fell to 0-2 on the year with last week's 47-35 loss to No. 17/16 Louisville. Quarterbacks Brandon Harris and Chazz Surratt combined to complete 29 of 37 passes for 384 yards and three touchdowns in the game, and senior Austin Proehlestablished career highs of eight catches and 120 receiving yards. Old Dominion is 2-0 after a scrappy 17-7 win at UMass last week. The Monarchs recorded a school-record eight sacks and limited UMass to just 332 yards of total offense in the victory. Jonathan Duhart scored his 19th career touchdown to help ODU stay undefeated on the year. "according to http://goheels.com/news/2017/9/15/football-tar-heels-visit-odu-for-road-opener.aspx

Carolina has won back-to-back road openers - last year's victory at Illinois and the 2015 win at Georgia Tech.
• Last season, UNC scored a convincing 48-23 win in Champaign. Mitch Trubiskycompleted 19 of 24 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two more as the Tar Heels pulled away in the fourth quarter to rout the Illini. Elijah Hood added a pair of rushing scores, including a 62-yarder late.
• In 2015, Marquise Williams led the Tar Heels to their biggest comeback in program history when Carolina rallied from 21-0 down to beat Georgia Tech 38-31 in Atlanta. Williams tossed a pair of touchdowns and caught another from Quinshad Davis in the victory, which sparked a perfect 8-0 ACC season. Saturday will be just the second meeting between Carolina and Old Dominion on the gridiron.
• UNC won the only previous matchup 80-20 in Chapel Hill in 2013. The Tar Heels led just 14-13 after one-quarter but outscored the Monarchs 35-0 in the second quarter. T.J. Logan returned a kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown and Ryan Switzer scored three times, including a 64-yard punt return for a score. The punt return TD was his fourth in three games, tying an NCAA record for consecutive games with a punt return score.
• The 80 points scored established a new school record and were two shy of the ACC record for points in a game.
• The Tidewater region of Virginia has long been a fertile recruiting ground for Carolina. A short list of Tar Heels from the area includes NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor (Williamsburg), two-time ACC Player of the Year Mike Voight (Chesapeake), two-time All-America defensive tackle William Fuller (Chesapeake), linebacker Dwight Hollier (Hampton), four-time 1,000-yard back Amos Lawrence (Norfolk), three-time first-team All-America cornerback Dre' Bly (Chesapeake) and record-setting quarterback Ronald Curry (Hampton). As for North Carolina's last game, they got beat by  Louisville.

Well, the 2017  season hasn't started the way North Carolina or their head coach Larry Fedora probably wants it as they have zero wins and two losses thanks to their latest opponent Louisville who is a member of the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Reigning Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson accounted for 525 total yards and six touchdowns to help No. 17 Louisville pull away late and beat North Carolina 47-35 on Saturday. "according to http://goheels.com/news/2017/9/9/football-louisville-wins-shootout-over-tar-heels.aspx

Jackson threw for 393 yards and three scores while also running for 132 yards and three TDs. The last came on a spinning-through-tacklers 11-yard run with 3:06 left to punctuate a dominant fourth-quarter effort by the Cardinals (2-0, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference). "according to http://goheels.com/news/2017/9/9/football-louisville-wins-shootout-over-tar-heels.aspx

Junior Jaylen Smith had nine catches for a career-high 183 yards and a score for Louisville, while Dez Fitzpatrick hauled in two TDs as the Cardinals rolled to 705 yards. "according to http://goheels.com/news/2017/9/9/football-louisville-wins-shootout-over-tar-heels.aspx

Louisville trailed 28-27 entering the final quarter but went ahead on Jackson's 3-yard keeper with 13:50 left. Louisville's defense then came up with two fourth-down stops to end promising drives by the Tar Heels (0-2, 0-1). "according to http://goheels.com/news/2017/9/9/football-louisville-wins-shootout-over-tar-heels.aspx

UNC quarterbacks Chazz Surratt and  Brandon Harris combined to throw for three scores. "according to http://goheels.com/news/2017/9/9/football-louisville-wins-shootout-over-tar-heels.aspx

Louisville: There didn't seem to be a lot of preseason buzz about Jackson's Heisman chances, even though he has a shot at becoming only the second two-time winner of the award going to college football's top player. But this game - a week after he had 485 total yards against Purdue - was a reminder of how effortless Jackson can make things look, whether he was connecting downfield or weaving through UNC's defense on another sticks-moving run. "according to http://goheels.com/news/2017/9/9/football-louisville-wins-shootout-over-tar-heels.aspx

UNC: The Tar Heels are 0-2 for the first time since 2010 and leave this game with a lot of questions. Surratt started over Harris but didn't play in the second half, while UNC's shuffled offensive line lost starting center Cam Dillard in the third quarter. Meanwhile, the defense that was supposed to be improved thanks to more returning experience offered meager resistance to Jackson and the Cardinals.
