Because Duke lost their previous at home in Durham to Virginia Monday 69-68 while Clemson also lost at home though unlike Duke they lost to Duke’s tobacco road rival North Carolina Tuesday in Clemson South Carolina by a score of 77-79.

Duke comes into the game with a record of 19-4 9-3 and in second place in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings because as stated above they lost to Virginia 69-68 on Monday in Durham.
