The Freshman For Duke Select Their Numbers

Starting over with a new freshman class every year is nothing new for head coach Mike Krzyzewski as it has become more like a routine.

Zion Williamson will go with number one that was last worn in 2011 by Kyrie Irving who's season was cut short because of a toe injury. 

Cam Reddish will go with number two that was  previously worn by most recently Quinn Cook who led Duke to a national title in 2015 when they beat Wisconsin in the national title game in Indianapolis. Nolan Smith who currently is on Mike Krzyzewski's coaching staff also wore number two and was a part of a team that  won a  national title under the direction of Mike Krzyzewski in 2010 when they beat Butler. Gary  Trent Jr. recently wore number two this past season before deciding to enter the NBA Draft. Tre Jones who is Tyus Jones younger brother will go with the number he wore at Apple Valley in number three that was previously worn by Grayson Allen who spent four years at Duke, was crowned a national champion in 2015  and was Duke's lone captain during the 2017-2018 season.  R.J. Barrett will wear number five that was previously worn by Tre Jones older brother  Tyus Jones who was crowned a national champion and named the most outstanding player of the final four in 2015 before heading to the NBA. Last but not least Joey Baker will wear number thirteen that was previously worn by Matt Jones who always had to defend the opponents best player and was also on the 2015 national title team.
