Remembering Pat Summit

Early this morning the college basketball world lost a pioneer of the game after her long hard fight with dementia (Alzheimer's type) at the age of 64. 

Let's take a look back at her extraordinary career at Tennessee.

While she was the head coach of the Lady Vols she won more games  then any other head coach in division one history. 

She spent thirty eight seasons at Tennessee she was hired at the age of twenty two as an assistant .

In her career as the head coach of Tennessee she had 1,098 career wins , eight national titles and her teams attended 18-31 finals fours along with thirteen national title games and one hundred and twelve NCAA tournament victories. In 2009 though the Lady Vols got disqualified before the sweet sixteen.

Throughout her career as the  Tennessee Women's basketball head coach 161 players were coached by her and more then a dozen went on to play in the WNBA which is in it's 20th season . The league was established in 1997.

 As a fan of college basketball at every regular season opening game Men's and Women's I think every  school should have  a moment of silence before the ball tips to remember her and what she meant to the game. RIP Pat you will be missed !
