Aaron Hicks singled to right scoring Anthony Rizzo advancing Matt Carpenter to third base expanding New York’s lead over Boston to 8-2 before Isiah Kiner -Falefa hit sacrifice fly scoring Matt Carpenter expanding New York’s lead to 9-2 before Tim Locastro homered to left center 410 feet scoring Aaron Hicks expanding New York lead over Boston to 11-2 before Joey Gallo put the finishing touches on New York’s 11-2 win over Boston homering to right 379 feet scoring DJ Lemahieu supporting Gerrit Cole in his start where he struckout 12 Boston batters pitching 7.0 innings surrendering 2 earned runs that were scored on Jeter Downs home run to left 363 feet scoring Jackie Bradley Jr. to get Boston within 1 run of New York at 3-2 in the top of the 3rd inning.

It is disappointing, even though [the A’s] play a lot better on the road than they do at home,”It seems like whenever we had a miscue or any kind of thing, they took advantage of it. It was a tough one to lose. We wanted to enter this break on a positive [note], but now we don’t have much choice other than to regroup and get it back together when we start in the second [half].”
